Interfusion Services became a member & collaborator of the CENELEC  project ‘Roadmap for an integrated set of standards of SmartHouseand relating systems to it’ since September 2010.The Cenelec project  is a non-profit technical organization founded  in 1973,  that has as a  mission  to prepare voluntary electrotechnical standards that help develop the Single European Market/European Economic Area for electrical and electronic goods and services removing barriers to trade, creating new markets and cutting compliance costs. The 31 current CENELEC members are national organizations entrusted with electrotechnical standardization, recognized both at National and European level as being able to represent all standardization interests in their country. The Roadmap for an integrated set of standards of SmartHouse and relating systems to it’  is a CENELEC proposal started in May  2009   and  aims  to provide strategic direction and co-ordination for the standardisation activities of the ESOs (ETSI, CEN and CENELEC), together with the many other bodies that are active in this space, to reflect properly the growth of the SmartHouse and all the services, applications, systems and networks associated with it and to encourage future market growth. It is intended that all existing and any initiative or standardisation work in the area shall be identified and, in this converging market, be co-ordinated so that to the greatest extent existing and future work will deliver interoperable solutions for any “SmartHouse” service or application. The Roadmap will identify what is already available from whatever standardisation source, what is being developed, what additional work will be needed and what is redundant or duplicated. It will identify what needs to be achieved and by when.

CENELEC’s mission is to prepare voluntary electrotechnical standards that help develop the Single European Market/European Economic Area for electrical and electronic goods and services removing barriers to trade, creating new markets and cutting compliance costs.

For doing this, CENELEC is strongly committed to:

  •  Satisfy the needs of the European industry and other stakeholders in the market place in the areas of standardisation and conformity assessment in the fields of electricity, electronics and associated technologies.
  •  Lead the improvement of all aspects of product quality, product safety, service quality and service safety in the fields of electricity, electronics and associated technologies, including protection of the environment, accessibility and innovation, and so to contribute to the welfare of society.
  • Support IEC, the International Electrotechnical Commission, in achieving its mission: "To be globally recognised as the provider of standards and conformity assessment and related services needed to facilitate international trade in the fields of electricity, electronics and associated technologies.

In addition to the regular standardisation work achieved by CENELEC since its foundation, a European Council Resolution of 7th May 1985 gave a new dimension to CENELEC's mission by recognising it as the Standardisation Body able to provide harmonised standards for the electrotechnical field under the New Approach.
